NEW YORK – Facebook’s owner is planning a giant payment to users as part of a settlement as part of a privacy lawsuit.
The settlement reached between Meta Platforms, Inc. and the plaintiffs in a lawsuit pending in U. S. District Court. U. S. For the Northern District of California.
You are included in the policy if, between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011 inclusive, you were a Facebook user in the United States who visited a non-Facebook network and displayed the Facebook “Like” button.
The lawsuit is known as Facebook Internet Tracking Litigation. Meta denies violating any laws and still agreed to settlement on the costs and dangers related to prosecuting the case.
To get payment for a settlement, you will need to submit a claim form by September 22, 2022. You can submit your claim form online at www. FBInternetTrackingSettlement. com or download the claim from the online page and mail it in. If your application is approved, you will waive the right to sue yourself.
You can choose not to participate in the agreement and not get any payment. This option allows you to initiate, continue to sue, or be a party to some other legal action opposed to the company similar to the legal claims resolved through the settlement.
If you do, you will get paid.
If the settlement is approved by the court, Meta will identify a $90 million ($90,000,000. 00) fund to pay all valid claims, such as notice and administration fees, attorney fees and expenses, and service premiums.
If the court approves the settlement, Meta will delete, to the extent that it has not yet been deleted, all cookie knowledge that Facebook has obtained or collected from, about, or related to Facebook users in the United States who have visited sites other than Facebook that displayed the Facebook Like button between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011.
The total amount distributed will be the fund and any accrued interest, minus fees. It can be paid via Prepaid MasterCard, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo or by direct deposit into your bank account.
