MCB Real Estate Launches Health Sciences Platform

Baltimore-based MCB Real Estate LLC partnered with Wilkingson “Will” Germain, head of science and healthcare real estate, to co-found MCB Science Health.

Germain, who will serve as the company’s chief executive officer, will aggressively pursue acquisition opportunities and advancement in life sciences, medical practices and senior apartments in the United States.

Germain joins MCB after 16 years at Ventas Inc. , a leading real estate investment trust, where he recently focused on developing its life sciences, studies and innovation portfolio of over $4 billion and over 7 million square feet. More than $20 billion in transactions, Germain brings extensive experience, long-lasting industry relationships, and proven experience in completing real estate transactions in the healthcare field.

Germain has a high-level duty to execute the overall strategy of the MCB Science Health platform, adding research and creating investment opportunities, overseeing underwriting and due diligence, structuring and executing transactions, managing progression projects, operations and asset management.

The platform’s senior team, Mark Furlan, who will serve as senior vice president of Development and Leasing, and Damian Donati, who will serve as senior vice president of Customer Relations.

With more than 25 years of progression of healthcare assignments, Furlan has delivered more than 60 assignments to markets across the United States. Working with suppliers, their experience levels range from site selection to progression and construction, leasing and asset management. Exceptional delivery groups that have certain assignments designed efficiently, on budget, and delivered in a timely manner.

Mr. Donati will focus on visitor relations and business development. With nearly 40 years of experience exclusively in medical practice and outpatient ownership, his varied experience includes planning, designing, leasing, creating and building medical spaces of more than 4. 5 million square feet of medical construction for healthcare systems and giant clinics in more than 30 states.

The team is ultimately engaged in life sciences progression assignments of more than $250 million and runs on the design and structure of medical practice assignments of more than $100 million. This includes an 82,000-square-foot structure at MCB’s Yard 56 allocation in Baltimore, Maryland and 60,000 square foot Progression at the Drexeline assignment in the Philadelphia suburbs.

MCB Science Health will be headquartered in Chicago.
