Hillsdale County COVID highest 7. 1%; Michigan falls 11. 3 percent

Michigan reported fewer coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, adding 25,968 new cases. That’s down 11. 3 percent from last week’s tally of 29,267 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Michigan ranked 17th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the U. S. have been reported. week, with 702,236 cases reported. With 3 percent of the nation’s population, Michigan recorded 3. 7 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 32 states have had more cases in the past week than in the past week.

Hillsdale County has reported cases and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 70 cases and one death. During the pandemic, it has reported 10,598 cases and 204 deaths.

Across Michigan, cases fell in 55 counties, with declines in Wayne County, with 5588 cases up from 6294 the previous week; macomb County, with 2523 out of 3180 instances; and Oakland County, with 4152 out of 4740 instances.

Michigan ranked 35th among states in terms of the proportion of other people who received at least one vaccine, with 67 percent of its citizens at least partially vaccinated. The national rate is 77. 7%, according to USA TODAY research using CDC data. Moderna vaccines, which are the most widely used in the United States, require two doses administered within a few weeks of each other.

In the week ending Wednesday, Michigan said it administered an additional 89,246 doses of vaccines, 9,262 first doses. Last week, the state administered 77,455 doses of vaccines, 6,524 first doses. Overall, Michigan reported administering 15,906,503 total doses.

In Michigan, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Washtenaw County with 455 cases per 100,000 per week; Schoolcraft County with 346; and Oakland County with 330. The Centers for Disease Control says the highest levels of network transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.

Wayne County added the maximum number of new instances overall, with 5588 instances; Oakland County, with 4152 instances; and Macomb County, with 2,523. The number of weekly instances is higher in 27 counties than last week. The worst increases from last week’s speed occurred in Calhoun, Muskegon and Montcalm counties.

In Michigan, another 139 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 78 people were killed.

A total of another 2,527,831 people in Michigan have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 36,357 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, another 83,984,644 people tested positive and another 1,004,733 people died.
