California ranked tenth among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. California ranked 15th among states in terms of the proportion of other people who received at least one vaccine, with 83. 8% of its citizens at least partially vaccinated. The national rate is 77. 7%, according to USA TODAY research using CDC data. Moderna vaccines, which are the most widely used in the United States, require two doses administered within a few weeks of each other.
In the week ending Wednesday, California said it administered an additional 415,833 doses of vaccines, 65,747 first doses. Last week, the state administered 463,250 doses of the vaccine, 79,852 first doses. Overall, California reported administering a total of 75,237,247 doses.
Across California, cases fell in 18 counties, with declines in Santa Cruz County, with 550 cases from 1089 the previous week; in San Francisco County, with 3634 out of 4088 instances; and Alameda County, with 5878 instances out of 6268.
In California, another 255 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 262 people died.
A total of 9,557,802 more people in California have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 91,299 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 83,984,644 more people tested positive and 1,004,733 more people died.
