American survives puma attack

A nine-year-old American woman survived a very rare cougar attack during a camping holiday in the western United States, wildlife officials and members of the family circle said Tuesday.

The cat attacked the girl, Lily Kryzhanivskyy, Saturday morning while camping with her circle of relatives in Washington state, her uncle Alex Mantsevich wrote on GoFundMe, where he sought to raise money to cover his medical expenses.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said in a statement that “Lily, along with two other children, were playing hide-and-seek in the woods a short distance from the camp buildings. Lily jumped to surprise her friends when the cougar suddenly attacked. .

“He flew to the hospital with many other facial and upper body injuries,” Mantsevich wrote.

The boy underwent hours of surgery and was released from intensive care on Monday, the wildlife branch said.

Since 1924, only 20 other people have been attacked by mountain lions in the Washington state desert, and two of them have died, according to the state’s environmental protection agency.

Authorities said an investigation would be conducted to investigate the cases of this specific attack.

“Wild animals don’t mind being around humans any more than we need to have close encounters with them,” said WDFW Capt. Mike Sprecher.

The body of the cougar, who was killed by someone at the scene, was tested for imaginable diseases, authorities said.

“Tests conducted over the weekend showed that the animal had rabies,” the WDFW said.
