He posted 3 photos from Hang Hang showing that the animal’s mane is short on the front, with long sides and on the back.
In the United States, some social media users said they thought Hang Hang’s mane looked like Joe Exotic’s blonde mule.
Exotic, whose real call is Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, appeared widely in the Netflix documentary “Tiger King” (2020), which shed light on big cat breeding and the exotic animal industry.

“It looks like one of Joe Exotic’s lions has arrived in China!” joked another.
“Channel feline enthusiast Joe Exotic with a ’90s mule, a lion in a Chinese zoo,” the user joked.

Fox News Digital has reached out to guangzhou Zoo for comment.
Zoo reportedly told People’s Daily, China (PDC), a state-controlled media outlet, that the lion’s mane has not been cut and grows naturally with a brutal blow. A zoo spokesman speculated that Hang Hang’s mane might appear more prominent because of the humidity of the southern Chinese province.
Guangzhou’s average annual humidity is around 79%, according to climate and weather data from Statista.
