The Council of the Whole met on Thursday, April 27, to officially adopt the strategy, which sets out how sustainable progression can contribute to economic prosperity without compromising environmental protection.

MSDC leader Jonathan Ash-Edwards said: “The UK government has committed to 0 carbon until 2050 and this strategy also commits Mid Sussex to 0. “

He said the council has a role to play in addressing climate substitution and said the new strategy would help ensure economic expansion is sustainable and attracts investment through recognition of “the uniqueness of our environment. “

The strategy aims to leverage Mid Sussex’s best job titles by providing “high-value task development” such as the proposed science and generation park north of Burgess Hill.

An MSDC spokesperson said, “Promoting access to education will give other local people the opportunity to expand the skills they want to get quality jobs and, for merchants, will help start new businesses across the district. “

The spokesperson added: “MSDC will facilitate the provision of sustainable infrastructure, adding collaboration with West Sussex County Council to increase in particular the number of EV charging issues to be had in the district and announce sustainable options, adding green plans.

“Virtual infrastructure will advance particularly through the deployment of end-to-end fibre and wireless generation for residents, utilities, charities and economic activity in Mid Sussex.

“New advances and land control demonstrate an accumulation of biodiversity and the Council will continue to reserve regions of open public areas for replanting. “

The council will also adopt a social price and sustainability charter for economic, environmental and social innovations through its suppliers and subcontractors, and inspire the procurement of local goods and services.

Mr Ash-Edwards said: “Our vision for Mid Sussex is to help businesses reduce carbon emissions, inspire business creation, announce sustainable business practices, expand virtual infrastructure, biodiversity and help the progress of colourful urban centres and towns that deliver on wishes. “of local citizens and are readily available on foot or by bicycle.

“Many of the goals of our strategy will be achieved through the Council alone, and we want to work in partnership with our residents, stakeholders and businesses to achieve our goals.

“By working together to implement this vital strategy, we can achieve sustainable economic expansion that is safe for the benefits of all who live and work in Mid Sussex. “
