Rhodiasolv IRIS is a component of the implementation of Solvay One Planet’s sustainability roadmap, which aims in particular to evolve the Group’s portfolio towards more sustainable solutions. Rhodiasolv IRIS makes it imaginable to use an original production process that recycles a by-product of its polyamide chain, in the past burned. This procedure optimizes the use of petrochemical resources and reduces environmental impact.

It is one of the flagships of the Rhodiasolv range, green solvents at the service of the transition to a more environmentally friendly agriculture.

The launch of production in Melle will require an investment of several million euros, and is expected to be launched in early 2023.

“This new plant in France is in line with Solvay’s project to act proactively and very close to its customers, providing opportunities to supply the market with cutting-edge formulations aligned with the sustainability objectives of the agri-food sector,” says Benoit Abribat, Vice President. President of Novecare at Solvay Agricultural Specialties.

Developed at Solvay’s study and innovation centre in Lyon, Rhodiasolv IRIS won the Pierre Potier Prize in 2009, the JEC Innovation Award in 2010 and won from the LIFE programme of the European Commission and ADEME, the Energy Transition Agency.
