New Tupton Ivanhoe FC is increasing the budget for a £15,000 refurbishment of the village’s multi-purpose desert game alongside Scout Hut.

Dave Hoult, the club’s secretary, said they would have to invest in a number of maintenance tasks to get the arena up and running again.

“The construction next to the land was once a youth center when I was a child. It’s been other things, and it’s been left inactive for a while. As in most villages, there is not much for young people in line with the minute compared to what we had when I was young.

“I did some studies with the parish council and they said the North East Derbyshire District Council was looking to get rid of it.

“We have done some preparatory paintings: it needs to be relayed with synthetic grass, fences and doors must be remade, as well as cameras and lights. We set the value and it’s in the £20,000 domain that we want to raise, and the board has invested £5,000.

Dave said that once the money is raised, it will take about two months to complete the work, but once it is completed, it will provide a sports facility for the youth of the village.

“If we can make this work, we have over three hundred young people at the club who will benefit. We can use it for winter training, if it is illuminated, we can launch a league of five.

“The value of renting 3G courses between September and March is appalling: if we can get this site, we can reinvest that money in the club and we can enjoy the amenities we have. “

“It’s a position to pass, it will give children a confined position to meet and play sports. You don’t know what’s going on in children’s heads during the minute with the two years we’ve just lived, so this is a position they can go to if they have physical or intellectual fitness issues.

“It would be wonderful to be able to give something back to the children, not just those who play football. It can also be a network center, it’s not just New Tupton Ivanhoe FC.

The club is collaborating with the network to raise the budget they want and will be the main beneficiary of Britannia Pub’s “Brit Fest” in July.

One of New Tupton’s coaches, who had his leg amputated 3 months ago, will climb Snowdon next week; he is raising money for the centre that took care of him, but he also hopes to contribute to the club’s efforts.
