China dismisses hypothesis that it would try to influence Twitter through Tesla

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday there was no basis for the hypothesis that Beijing could try to use its influence over electric car maker Tesla Inc to influence the content of U. S. social network Twitter Inc.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded to a query at a regular briefing on Tuesday, after Tesla CHIEF EXECUTIVE Elon Musk reached a deal on Monday to buy Twitter.

About a portion of the cars Tesla sold internationally last year were made at its Shanghai plant.
