GRAND FORKS: With its convenient enough parking and extensive menu, Speedway Grill welcomes giant teams for lunch, late lunch or dinner faster or later. And it’s a convenient position to avoid a snack in between.
The restaurant, established in 1988 at the former Grand Forks Airport, offers lunch, dinner and dining options. With its giant seating area, it seats 260 people. The best sellers are hamburgers and barbecues. There are baskets of prawns, leucomas and chicken.
The burgers come in 24 versions at costs ranging from $9. 99 for a half-pound burger to $11. 99 for an “Ultimate Speedway. “And a “Burger from Hell” for $10. 99. Comes with spicy cheese, jalapenos and cayenne pepper.
Speedway offers the option to eat at tables or cabins. And decorating with reminders from beyond adds interest. The cabins provide a place to chat. There is a bar and a dining room next to the dining room. While the booths and tables are adequate, there is also a giant dining room for equipment and overflowing guests.
The restaurant employs another 35 to 40 people and has been on permanent staff.
There are sandwiches ranging in value from $9. 99 for a BLT or crumbled red meat or melted turkey. The club space sandwich for $10. 99 is a favorite option. There are also soups and salads.
Then, a menu for seniors as well as “kids” ages 12 and under who provide full food for $6. 49. People over the age of 60 have a selection of dinners of poultry breast, salmon, sirloin or fish ribs worth $9. 99.
