HONESDALE, PA – Starting this Friday, April 1, the Wayne Memorial COVID-19 self-service verification site at Stourbridge Complex, Honesdale, will be closed, basically due to low volumes. The site presented a COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction), which to this day remains the popular gold or the most accurate control for the virus.
Wayne Memorial’s director of auxiliary services, James Hockenbury, said the site, which opened six days a week at the height of the pandemic, had noticed a 90 percent drop in verification requests. Saturday verification stopped earlier this year. a proliferation of antigen controls available at home, but also to minimize the appearance of the virus in the wider network and an accumulation in the vaccinated population.
Patients who have a PCR test can still receive this test at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A prescription is required.
