TWO RIVERS – The Two Rivers Public School District is proposing a $38. 7 referendum to expand ArrayB. Clarke High School and update the district’s safety and generation wishes.
Here’s what you want to know about the proposal, adding what it would be used for and how much it would charge taxpayers.
In a brief presentation to the Two Rivers City Council on March 21, Superintendent Diane Johnson said L. B. Clarke had a really extensive footprint among the 4 degrees housed there, and that the two-addition structure to the structure would.
The district hired Bray Architects and CG Schmidt in May to conduct a thorough review of the facility. Overcrowding issues at LBClarke were singled out as a top priority, but the review also showed that all buildings in the district needed safer access areas, up to upgrade infrastructure and meet technological needs.
The school was built in 1969 and is the oldest building in the district, only Magee Elementary, which was built in 1961.
Two additions were built for the university, one in 1990 and in 1998.
Originally, grades 7 and 8 were in L. B. Clarke, however, in 2005, the district closed CCCase Elementary School and grades five and 6 were also transferred to L. B. Clarke.
According to Johnson, the school’s hallways, classrooms, gymnasium and dining hall are now occupied by students.
“Of course, at this age, just like if your house is older, there are needs,” said Johnson, who took over the 1,720-strong district on July 1.
The two proposed additions would give the school more study rooms and a new mastery of physical education. The school would then use the existing physical education domain to expand the cafeteria and commercial arts domains.
A $38. 7 million referendum is expected to raise taxes on assets through $49 for every $100,000 of asset value.
This would increase the projected tax rate for 2022 from $8. 43 to $8. 92 consistent with $1,000 of asset value.
