Senior U. S. army officers, in addition to the commander of the V Corps, are set to sign up for their Estonian counterparts for foreign training in Lääne-Viru County on Thursday, as anti-aircraft trials employing Stryker-based air defense systems continue, the regional daily Virumaa Teataja (VT) reported.
As a component of the Operation Saber Strike training from 7 to 16 March, the drone-based targets will be used through personnel, the Army’s 10th Air and Missile Defence Command (10th AAMDC), as well as the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF), VT Reports (link in Estonian).
Training begins at 10 am on Thursday, March 10, at Rutja beach, about a hundred kilometers from Tallinn.
In addition to EDF Deputy Commander Veiko-Vello Palm and Air Force Commander (Õhuvägi), Brigadier General Rauno Sirk, Commander of the 10th AAMDC, Major General Gregory J. Brady, and commander of the U. S. Army V Corps. U. S. Gen. Jeffrey Broadwater, the commander of the U. S. Army’s V Corps, is a U. S. Army. The US will be present, while the UK, Belgian and Polish aircraft will participate, and an army worker corps from a non-NATO Finnish anti-aircraft unit will also participate, VT reports.
The EDF workers’ corps of the 1st Infantry Brigade will have to ensure safety on site, in collaboration with the local government, the maritime government and the Civil Rescue Council (Päästeamet), reports VT.
