March 1, 2022: The Charlotte Hornets and the official spouse of hunger, Food Lion Feeds, today introduced the Dunk Hunger 2022 food drive to gain advantages from Metrolina’s Second Harvest Food Bank. During the month of March, Food Lion will donate 1,000 meals* for every dump recorded by Hornets at home and away. According to Feeding America, North Carolina has the ninth highest rate of food distrust in the country, and nearly one in seven people, adding one in five children, suffers from starvation.
“We are proud to once again team up with our friends at Food Lion Feeds and Second Harvest Food Bank to fight hunger,” said Fred Whitfield, president and vice president of Hornets Sports.
To help Dunk Hunger, enthusiasts can make a financial donation at hornets. com/dunkhunger. All donations will go directly to Metrolina’s Second Harvest Food Bank. Fans can also attend any game in March to cheer on hornet players as they try to make mates as you can imagine to help the initiative.

* Food Lion will donate $100 to dunk, the financial equivalent of 1,000 foods with the $1 Feeding America plan offering at least 10 foods on behalf of local member food banks.
