The police will use the drone detection generation from the security of the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. According to a press release, St. Pete is the first company to connect with a cellular drone detection generation company called Dedrone.
Although the racetrack is a no-fly zone for drones, it is still imaginable for a drone to enter the security perimeter. If a drone were to fall on the track, it “would pose a mortal danger to high-speed racing cars. “”
According to St. Pete police, “Dedrone detects, identifies and locates nearly three hundred other types of drones. Locate the drone, the camera shows if it carries a suspicious load and also identifies the location of the pilot. It is already used internationally in places such as airports, stadiums and prisons, etc. What’s another thing about the device in the Grand Prix is that it’s portable. This is Dedrone’s first portable/mobile detection unit. »
St. Pete Police press claims that other security measures include:
On-site event handling for temporary issues. Four trailers with camera and Skywatch tracking the course. Site St. La Maritime Unit of the St. Petersburg Police and the U. S. Coast Guard. U. S. waterways near the runway monitor. and each and every vehicle that accesses the site is controlled. Assistance agencies include: FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, FHP Hazardous Materials Team, 48th Civilian Support ADM Unit, US Coast Guard, FDLE and Tampa PD.
