Hagerty referred to how Twitter allowed Iran’s ideal leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to tweet threats opposed to the United States, but permanently banned Trump and several of his conservative colleagues from the platform.

Hagerty said one solution to this double is the Big Tech bill, introduced in April 2021, which he says he sadly doesn’t have a single Democratic supporter in the Senate.
The Tennessee senator said the law would be Big Tech and would require corporations to “explicitly set the criteria” if they need to censor something.

Hagerty said that currently, under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, tech corporations have “very broad criteria” for interpreting what is “offensive,” and use it to say that conservative is offensive.

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla. , also called for Big Tech to be held accountable for stifling conservative views, while allowing authoritarian “thugs” like Putin to continue their platforms.
“Canceling and silencing other people is the newest trend of burning books. That’s what they do. They cancel and silence other people on the Internet, and it’s a book burn,” Scott told Fox News Digital on CPAC.
