SAO PAULO, Feb 1 (Reuters) – Part of a main road in Sao Paulo collapsed on Tuesday near a structure site for a new metro line running through Spain’s Acciona SA, with no casualties reported.
Sao Paulo state’s metro operator said tunnels dug for the new metro allocation had been flooded. Television footage showed the lanes of the Marginal Tiete Highway falling into a well widening along the structure’s site.
The state said there were no casualties.
Acciona is managing the structure of the new metro line 6 as part of a public-private partnership with the state of Sao Paulo that is expected to come into operation until 2025.
Shares of the Spanish renewable energy organization and structure erased profits and fell just 2% after the collapse.
Acciona representatives did not respond to questions about the incident. (Reporting through Gabriel Araujo, Carolina Mandl, Letícia Fucuchima and Eduardo Simoes Editing through Brad Haynes)
