Donald Trump came out with his new app, Truth Social, and, to put it simply, it’s more of an antisocial network.

At least that’s the story so far of the former president’s foray into generating an incomplete investment vehicle, created through abstract technicians (who hide their names), led by executives whose intended experience in managing such complex organizations is, you guessed it, incomplete.

Well, I guess that’s general for various business efforts by Trump golf lovers, from steaks to universities to bottled water, many of which died out after highly publicized deployments. What’s special here is that extinction display.

The myriad of problems in Truth Social’s registration procedure when it announced it was open to the public on Monday, not through the possibility of Presidents Day, is well documented. And to be fair, much of what happened is rarely very uncommon for a new app with a lot of hype around it. But with Truth Social, it was controlled to be that and much more. Every step of the procedure, at least for me (and everyone on that other social media site), was a series of error messages. , from downloading to login, to the ability to recover a password, while running in your footsteps.

That’s why I used my backup phone for the procedure as it is not connected to my private virtual life and only works via Wi-Fi. This is the same procedure I used to download TikTok, due to its Chinese ownership, which I wrote in 2020. My considerations for each are the same: 1. Possible security issues; 2. Possible privacy issues; 3. Possible invasive marketing patterns; and 4. Everything that is hidden in the secret just scares me. Social Truth inspires the same feeling I have about Facebook and, to a lesser extent, Google: I just don’t accept it as true as a company that will protect its own. consumers

The look of the waiting list (it turns out that most people can’t even use the service) was strange. First of all, they told me they loved me, I was the number 249 495 online. Then, mysteriously, I went back to 169 495. before, poof!, I had returned to 249,495. Whether it was really a marketing ploy to give the appearance of popularity or just technological incompetence, it was an intermittent red sign of the kind of jokes I feared from Trump’s other individuals. While one might I guess the folks at Apple gave it a smart look before allowing it to be on the App Store, where it’s now the #1 free download in the US. In the US, ahead of big names like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. I’m still in “smart shopper” mode. Prevention is bigger than the cure with hungry data, which is why I used slightly erroneous non-public information.

Truth Social executives have said that everything will be fixed until the end of March, but let’s see if there’s any truth to this announcement.

Also rare: someone had already taken @karaswisher, which is a name. Who knows! Maybe Truth Social will highlight it to me, just like the conservative social media app Gettr, or maybe Laura Ingraham will cosplay for me.

Jokes aside, the real check will be when the service gets up and running a bit, supposedly in April, when users can kick the tires. The registration procedure is one thing, but keeping users engaged and posting quality content is another. I’ve noticed that they recommend that Truth Social is a clone of Twitter with, in a way, even stricter moderation regulations (both for loose talk!). media platform that fosters open, loose, and fair global verbal exchange without discriminating against those opposed to political ideology. “

But like anything else, only the new features and enthusiasm they create can make it a platform for success, as the excitement of trolling the former president’s 24-hour trolling is sure to grow. fade. I’ve noticed it before, to be a winner in technology, it takes more than offering a level for endless shouting parties and stunts. You care about being useful, entertaining or exclusive, and being the 3 is the golden goal.

Truth Social is already catching up on right-wing social networks Gettr, Rumble, Parler, MeWe and others. Therefore, it is better that you improve quickly. It’s not evident here, even with Trump’s support, as everyone is fighting for a relatively small group of clients. (I mean, there’s a lot of Dinesh D’Souza’s nonsense to share. )

Wall Street, however, didn’t seem to care about the mess. Digital World Acquisition, the special-target acquisition company, or SPAC, with which Trump Media is about to merge, saw its shares rise 14% after Social’s debut. This, despite an ongoing investigation through the Securities and Exchange Commission that may halt the SPAC transaction and deny Trump Media some $1. 3 billion in cash.

But let’s face it, Trump still craves Twitter, his greatest virtual love, a date that is no longer shared. Although he forbade tweeting, he would bet a lot of money on the bet that he would go straight to his old playground. – with the concentrate on trampling – if he had the chance, leaving Truth Social without looking back.

This week I met Liza Donnelly, whose new e-book “Very Funny Ladies,” about women cartoonists from The New Yorker, will be released next month. to take a look at his drawing skills and answer my questions with his drawing pen. There are no mandatory meetings this week.

Their e-book is called “Very Funny Ladies,” which is what they are. But I would like to know why we want to differentiate between women and men when it comes to making cartoons, because it does not require, for example, a feat of physical strength to take a pen or a pencil. In other words, what are the unique demanding situations that women face in comics?

It seems like a much less fun global now, but maybe it’s just me. What has replaced for you in it and how do you conceive of your work?

You’d be remiss if you didn’t ask how virtualization has impacted your business, not just how you do what you do. Is there a network of creators like on TikTok and Instagram?

What do you think the comedian will be like in the metaverse, given that everyone looks like a comic edition of themselves in an e-book?Is there anything you’ve noticed that sounds smart to you?

Lovely: Apple’s TV department deserves praise for Ben Stiller’s new series titled “Severance. “Its plot is entirely science fiction and dystopian technology, in which the company’s staff is “brain cut off”, bifurcating paintings and non-public life. so that their wisdom and memories of their office will not be available to them after they leave. A lot is happening in this exhibition, adding their stellar cast, which is visually sterile and alludes to a genuine metaverse in which staff are imprisoned through choice, in part to avoid thinking about the consequences of a very vile task they are doing and forget their torments at home during 8 hours of ignorance. It’s also full of CCTV nightmares that cast an unflattering light on the technology. Pandemic dating in paintings and taking a look to find out how to be less remote as we move away, is a must. Don’t miss the indignity of the melon buffet.

Disgusting: If you don’t think there’s a clear line between the anti-trans and L. G. B. T. Q. communities and, led through Trump, the strident and strange support, even for them, of Russian President Vladimir Putin, so they pay no attention online. There, this aggrieved gang attempted to link burning issues at home like cancel culture and gender issues to the fact that Putin himself didn’t get things done. That’s right, he didn’t take your parking space, so stay away! It’s a tricky and baffling technique, but ultimately effective now in a continuous loop on the same old virtual platforms. A particularly repulsive edit was exposed during a recent exchange between ultra-conservative operatives Steve Bannon and Erik Prince on Bannon’s “War Room” podcast that aired on Apple and other platforms, after he had been removed from some, including YouTube. Like the Omicron variant, these foul messages are virulently spread among the mentally unvaccinated to stoke anger. These other people never left the last time they tried to spit out so much hate, but now they have better technological weapons and much more strength to attack other people. Stopping such rhetoric is not the point, it is too late for that. But it’s critical that we see how that antipathy grows and feeds into other online memes, such as anti-vaccine campaigns and voter fraud. This is especially true if you are a major content distributor and, say, a gay CEO. of the most valuable and resilient technology company in the world, such as Tim Cook.
