Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state of Texas, through the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), has requested resources for federally supported control sites and the medical staff of workers and more federal monoclonic antibody allocations.

Greg Abbott announced that the state of Texas, through the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), has requested resources for federally-supported testing locations and medical personnel and additional federal allocations of monoclonal antibodies.
“Detecting COVID-19 and preventing COVID-related hospitalizations is critical to our fight against this virus,” Abbott said. “While Biden’s leadership has cut materials for monoclonal antibody remedies and tested the kits when they are most needed, the state of Texas urges the federal government to step up this fight and provide the mandatory resources to help Texans. Testing sites, more medical personnel, and continued shipments of healing products from the federal government will help us continue to save lives and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. »
Texas has asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to review sites in the following counties based on existing COVID-19 measures, adding positivity rates and hospitalizations: Bexar, Cameron, Dallas, Harris, Hidalgo and Tarrant. other people with COVID-19, adding the omicron variant, and assistance saves it and decreases transmission.
DSHS also requested more concessions for sotrovimab, a curative monoclonal antibody that has been shown to be effective in combating the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and reducing hospitalizations. and bamlanivimab, monoclonal antibody remedies for other strains of COVID-19 that have also been shown to help decrease hospitalizations in the state. DSHS has also asked 3 groups of medical staff to provide more assistance to hospitals in urban spaces in the state that do not have staff under contract with DSHS.
