The Wild Center re-opens may 1st with a sculpture project

The Wild Center, at 45 Museum Drive in Tupper Lake, reopened on July 15 with coronavirus protection measures implemented, adding limited capacity, advanced operating procedures, and cleaning protocols.

The Wild Center, at 45 Museum Drive in Tupper Lake, reopened on July 15 with coronavirus protection measures implemented, adding limited capacity, advanced operating procedures, and cleaning protocols.

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake is open on Saturday after being closed throughout the month of April for cleaning.

The nature science center will remain outdoors only for the time being, social distance protocols, ticket booking with scheduled prices and the use of face mask will be maintained. Please note that the center’s opening hours will be 10 a. m. at 5 p. m, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it will be open all week from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

By summer, two nationally renowned artists, Barney Bellinger and Patrick Dougherty, will create a set of outdoor sculptures to be exhibited downtown. Bellinger, who discovers himself in the Adirondacks, is known for his portraits with rustic furniture, photography, oil portrait and steel sculpture. Dougherty, a stick artist, will portray on-site to create giant pieces through folding, intertwined and tied branches discovered in Adirondacks. You will be assisted through a team of volunteers.
