COVID-19: Mass vaccination in Montreal opens up an area for people without an appointment

A mass vaccination is being opened at the Montreal Convention Center to welcome others without an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The CIUSSS in South Central Montreal, the regional fitness authority overseeing the site, announced Thursday that it will lose a few hundred parking spaces for people without an appointment every day.

In a press release Wednesday, CIUSSS said he hoped to inspire other young people to get their first dose by giving them an appointmentless option they can simply fight.

Vaccination is open to others over the age of 25 in Quebec, however, as of Friday, May 14, those over 18 years of age will be eligible.

To publicize the initiative, a special guest will make an appearance at vaccination on Thursday, between 9 a. m. and 10 a. m.

The CIUSSS, however, gave no indication as to who would be the mystery guest, but promised that they would “rejoice” in the morning and “greet visitors, young and old. “

The Convention Center can accommodate up to 3500 people.

Despite the opening of positions for walk-ins, the fitness government says that making appointments through the government portal Clic Santé is the preferred option.

To date, about 44% of Quebecers have won at least one injection.

It maintains its purpose of giving a dose to all Quebecers over the age of 18 until June 24.
