German goalkeeper Ter Stegen outside Euro 2020

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen was disrepresented on Monday this year’s Euro to obtain a medical remedy on his knee.

The Barcelona goalkeeper will be Manuel Neuer’s replacement for the German national team, which will be measured in France, Portugal and Hungary in Group F.

“I’ve made the decision with the club’s medical team that I’m going to have an additional knee procedure,” ter Stegen wrote on Instagram. “I am not happy to miss Euro 2020 this summer with Germany. For the first time in many years, I will be a fan at home in my country, I hope we win it!

Ter Stegen arrived a day after betting on Barcelona’s 2–1 loss to Celta de Vigo, ending the team’s chances of winning the Spanish league.

He has played 25 matches with Germany since 2012, most of the friendly, and his last match was a wonderful 2–1 defeat to North Macedonia in March in the World Cup qualifiers. Ter Stegen’s only physies in a foreign primary tournament came here when Germany won the 2017 Confederations Cup while Neuer was injured.
