Commission recognizes ‘National Travel and Tourism Week’

EATON – Preble County Commissioners May 2-8 as National Travel and Tourism Week with a proclamation at their meeting Monday, May 3.

Members of the Preble County Convention Office Council and visitors were present for the proclamation, which he read in the minutes of Commission President Rachael Vonderhaar.

The theme of national travel and tourism week 2021 “The power of travel”.

According to the proclamation, the force has been a constant driving force of Ohio’s economy and workforce, and a physically powerful industry brings significant economic benefits to the country, generating more than $2. 6 trillion in domestic economic production in 2019, with $1. 1 trillion spent directly. to the United States.

Vonderhaar continued: “While travel has been the basis of a healthy workforce, being one of the largest personal sector employers in the United States, it generated 17 million jobs in 2019; and while travel spending has helped state and local governments, generating $180 billion in tax profits in 2019 to must-have facilities and programs. While companies and organizations that rely on travel and tourism, 83% of which are small businesses such as restaurants and retail stores, are guilty of welcoming visitors from around the world to explore Preble County and all of our communities have to offer.

The proclamation continues: “While last year, the coronavirus pandemic devastated all sectors of the industry with dizzying declines in 2020 compared to 2019, affecting all communities in the country, adding Preble County; and although the industry cannot recover without returning to both recreational and business arrangements as well as meetings and events, through domestic and foreign visitors.

“While the uptick will spur the reconstruction of the US economy and workforce, the US will not be able to do so. And it will help our local economy; and as the force of adventure will revive Preble County, Ohio and the United States and lead us to a richer and more disgusting future.

“And while the Preble County Convention and Visitors Office is guilty of selling the entire county as an ideal position for visitors to make our cities their destination, it has now been resolved that the Preble County Board of Commissioners will proclaim may 2-8, 2021, as National Travel and Tourism Week in Preble County. Array and urges citizens of Preble County to sign up with us to detect the critical role this industry plays in recovering our restaurants and small businesses.

In cases

The board approved the following 4 resolutions authorizing the Preble County Engineer’s Expenses: acquisition of railing poles used for use in projects ($6,000), acquisition of reinforced concrete pipes for use in projects ($10,496. 2 8), acquisition of Geotac for use on bridge and road decks ($2,326. 10) and for the purchase of Type Five railings with tubular reinforcements for use on eaton-Lewisburg Road Bridge ($7,930).

One solution also approved authorizing an expense of $12,500 to acquire a barbed wire fence for the sheriff’s branch of the coronavirus aid funds.

The commission also approved a solution authorizing the hiring of external legal advisers.

The council also approved a solution by asking the Preble County auditor to certify the $0. 3 million renewal payment to the Preble County Department of Health.

Another $5,000 was also approved for children’s services.

The Preble County Board of Commissioners meets every Monday and Wednesday at nine a. m. at the Preble County Courthouse, these meetings are open to the public.
