Chicago’s best doctor receives COVID-19 vaccine at new immunization site

CHICAGO – The Public Health Commissioner, Dr. Allison Arwady raised her thumb when she won an injection of the coronavirus vaccine at the city’s new mass vaccination at Malcolm X College on Tuesday.

“I think for me to be publicly vaccinated means that I’m not just encouraging him to get vaccinated. I’m glad I did it myself,” he said.

Arwady, who qualified for the vaccine because he sees patients at an outpatient clinic in the city, said he hoped to answer questions about the effects of the vaccine with first-hand knowledge.

Starting Tuesday, outpatients in registered offices who obtain a city code can make an appointment to get vaccinated at Malcolm X, which is already booked until Wednesday.

Arwady says he expects it to take until late February to vaccinate fitness services in hospitals, outpatients and nursing homes before extending the vaccination deployment to the elderly in Chicago and across the street.
