PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida – Florida recorded a record number of new instances of COVID-19 over the weekend with more than 10,000 new instances registered on a single day.
Palm Beach County also experienced a massive peak, a little week and a portion before Thanksgiving.
There were continuous lines at COVID-19 sites in Palm Beach County on Monday after Florida saw a record number of new coronavirus cases since July.
“We’re in this very hard and that’s a concern,” Commissioner Hal Valeche said.
Valeche said the county board’s features for adding restrictions are limited through Governor Ron DeSantis’ most recent executive order. Valeche said the commission would have to file a petition with the governor if he had to reopen.
“I don’t think we can act on our own and I’m not sure it’s necessary,” Valeche said.
The figures Valeche said the board will pay attention to at Tuesday’s assembly will cover hospitalizations and income in the ICU. Testing and contact search are also a cause for concern.
As COVID-19 instances increase, there are considerations that queues at county checkpoints will accumulate as more and more people are reviewed before and after holiday meetings.
“I think the control numbers will increase, which will increase the positive numbers, which will increase the number of positivity and it’s just a domino effect,” dr. Leslie Diaz, infectious diseases specialist.
Dr. Diaz said hospitals were experiencing an increase in admissions similar to COVID-19, but that they were under-staffed and under-staffed. Diaz said other people will want to pay more attention to others by making plans for Christmas meetings.

“The mortality rate is very low and the survival rate is very high, but let’s know again who I can infect. It’s not just about us individually, it’s about your neighbor,” Dr. Diaz said.
