ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (AP) – The new coronavirus reached the ranks of the Denver Broncos organization with general manager John Elway and team president Joe Ellis taking positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The Broncos said in a statement that Elway and Ellis had minor symptoms but that they were “doing well” and that they would continue to paint from home and in isolation and participate in virtual meetings while their fitness was being monitored.
The team stated that no player or coach had made contact with Elway or Ellis recently.
“Based on a knowledge search review for contacts with the league, we are pleased that those cases are independently arived outside the team’s premises,” the Broncos said. “There is a minimum of known close contact for everyone (no player or coach) and those other people were notified.
“While our facilities are closed by Election Day, coaches are making their adjustment arrangements remotely as a precautionary measure,” the team added. “Our organization will communicate with the NFL, making all decisions in consultation with the league and based on the recommendation of medical experts. “
The Broncos had three assistant coaches of the league’s COVID-19 protocols, Curtis Modkins, Mike Munchak and Ed Donatell, as well as right guard Graham Glasgow. Others at the team headquarters have also become inflamed with COVID-19 in recent weeks.
Modkins, the team’s runners coach, returned to his paintings last week after recovering from his infection. Munchak, his offensive line coach, was away all last week and Donatell, the team’s defensive coordinator, followed COVID-19 protocols on Sunday morning, skipping those of the Broncos. game opposed to the Chargers of Los Angeles.
Glasgow diagnosed Friday, and the Broncos canceled the cash practice and drove away two other supporters, alternate guard Austin Schlottmann and the initial right attack on Demar Dotson, as a precaution.
Schlottmann and Dotson returned on Saturday and played against the Chargers. Schlottmann replaced Glasgow on the right guard.
Ellis began to feel unwell on Sunday morning and contacted the team’s medical staff. As a precautionary measure, he saw the Broncos’ 31-30 home win over the Los Angeles Chargers, the first time in 26 years that a Broncos house game was lost.
Ellis continued to run from home on Monday and won a positive check for COVID-19 on Tuesday morning, as did Elway, who left paintings to return home on Monday after beginning to revel in mild symptoms of the infection, the team said.
As a component of the NFL’s COVID-19 security protocols, which was put in position for the league to review the pandemic during the 2020 season, the Broncos had all their workers tested daily for the virus. Players, coaches, and other workers also use contract tracking devices. to help prevent any epidemic.
The Broncos have been subject to the league’s advanced COVID-19 protocols since Modkins was infected. These additional measures include increased distance, face covers on the education floor and internal team amenities for players and coaches, and remote team meetings. Meet in person.
The Broncos (3-4) are expected to return to the paintings wednesday morning to continue arrangements for Sunday’s game in Atlanta (2-6).
The Broncos suffered the COVID-19 outbreak of the New England Patriots last month when their game at Gillette Stadium was postponed, first for a day, then for a week, when Cam Newton and Stephon GilmoreArray, among others, became infected.
That meant the Broncos home game on October 18 against Miami was postponed until November 22, when they were scheduled to receive the Chargers. The Chargers game moved to November 1, which purported to be the Broncos’ farewell.
