Bed-Stuy zip code has been added to city surveillance on coronavirus growth

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN – Added a zip code covering Bed-Stuy to a list of spaces where city fitness officials are involved in an increase in coronavirus cases, the Department of Health said Wednesday.

The 11205 zip code, which encompasses Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and East Bed-Stuy, is one of seven neighborhoods where the coronavirus positivity rate has been higher and recently reached between 2 and 3%.

The seven neighborhoods were added Wednesday to the Department of Health’s worry spaces, still having to succeed in the “alarming” rate of 10 New York neighborhoods where positivity rates have risen above 3 percent.

These 10 neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, which now come with Fresh Meadows/Hilcrest, are components of coronavirus groups that led to higher testing and application of coronavirus regulations last week.

The city’s overall positivity rate for 14 days was 1. 43% on Wednesday. New York City’s daily rate rose Tuesday to a peak of 3% in months, largely due to emerging neighborhoods.

In the Bed-Stuy zip code, the average positivity rate of 14 days reached 2. 07% on Wednesday, including an increase of 0. 3% during the previous day.

The Department of Health has already tripled the capacity of COVID Express testing sites in Fort Greene and Crown Heights, a newly added zip code to the watch list, the branch said.

The city also began fining New Yorkers who refused to wear a mask after they were presented with a mask and began tracking personal schools in spaces of concern.
