Philadelphia 76ers to talk about training with Doc Rivers

Philadelphia 76ers Josh Harris and David Blitzer will meet with Doc Rivers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night to take over as the franchise’s head coach, resources told ESPN.

Rivers spoke the previous Wednesday with general manager Elton Brand. Other more sensitive applicants, such as Mike D’Antoni and Ty Lue, also met with Brand and the property.

Rivers is the candidate in the process. A resolution is expected this week.

Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers split Monday after his seventh season as head coach ended with his surprising expulsion from the NBA playoffs through the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals. Sources said Rivers still had two years of contract left.
