SAN DIEGO (AP) – Openers Mike Clevinger and Dinelson Lamet came close to the San Diego Padres’ 28-game list for their wildcard series opposite the St. Louis Cardinals due to injuries that forced them to leave their last regular game. the season begins . . .
The Fathers hoped that either of them would be healthy enough to begin the series opposite the St. Louis Cardinals. Clevinger made a consultation with the bullpen on Tuesday and Lamet had presented it on Monday.
Clevinger left after he began a bachelor entrance into his home opposite the Angels on September 23 with what was first described as a bicep oppression, but was later diagnosed as a elbow conflict. He received a cortisone injection on Friday.
Lamet left his departure in San Francisco on Friday with a bicep contraction.
General Manager A. J. Preller said the Padres felt none of the pitchers were able to make an opening of 80 bodies.
Right Chris Paddack planned to start the first game of the series on Wednesday.
Clevinger and Lamet were part of the taxi crew, as were left-handers MacKenzie Gore and Ryan Weathers.
Zach Davies is scheduled to start the second game on Thursday. If the series lasts 3 games, everything will be ready, general manager A. J. said. Preller.
