COUNTY AGAINST COSTA, Calif. – Starting Thursday, Contra Costa County will offer loose flu shots to citizens being monitored at a COVID-19 control site.
The county will host seven immunization clinics in October, providing loose flu vaccines in San Ramon, Concord, Richmond, Antioch and Brentwood.
Everyone can come regardless of insurance policy or immigration prestige, and flu shots are not included in public workplace assessments. People don’t want dates, ID or social security numbers, but they’ll have to wear a mask and be at least six months old.
Getting the flu shot has never been more important, Contra Costa’s fitness service said wednesday in a press.
“We need it to be as simple as possible for other people to get away with the flu this year,” Dr Chris Farnitano, Contra Costa County Health Officer, said in the press release. “Offering [the] flu vaccine at COVID control sites will allow others to remove two things from their to-do list at once. “
The announcement comes when many public fitness actors have sounded the alarm about a so-called twindemic due to a imaginable double outbreak of influenza and COVID-19 cases. People may have poor physical condition due to flu and coronavirus, the county said.
The flu season in the Bay Area has an end that will peak in January or February, however, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that others be emphed by the end of October.
Influenza vaccines are obtained before flu season, as it takes others about two weeks after vaccination to expand antibodies, according to the CDC, but getting vaccinated too early can reduce effectiveness later in flu season.
Flu symptoms are similar to COVID-19 symptoms and could possibly come with congestion, cough and fever, the county said. There is no vaccine for COVID-19 lately and Contra Costa citizens are encouraged to get a loose check if they spread such symptoms. flu season.
