St.LOUIS PARK, Minnesota, September 3 – The Environmental Protection Agency issued the following press on September 1:
Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the loading of six sites to the National Priorities List (NPL), adding Highway 100 and the County Road 3 groundwater column in St. Louis.Louis Park and Edina, where pollution emissions pose fitness and environmental hazards.The EPA also proposes uploading 4 more sites to the NPL while cutting a proposed site in the past that has never been completed.
Under the Trump administration, the Superfund program resurfaced as a precedent to fulfill the agency’s mission.Renewed EPA attention has prompted actions to leave blank some of the country’s most infected sites, protect communities’ fitness, and repair infected and productive land.reuse for generations in the long term.
“Communities with sites on the national precedence list are a genuine national precedent under the Trump administration,” epa administrator Andrew Wheeler said.”Many of the sites we are adding today are in vulnerable, low-income, and minority communities that deserve our attention.The EPA demonstrates our commitment to helping overloaded communities live, paint and move to school cleaner, healthier, and more disgustingly rich.”
“The addition of Highway One Hundred and Groundwater Plume County Highway 3 will allow the cities of Edina and St.Louis Park have a permanent solution to groundwater pollution,” said Kurt Thiede, EPA Regional Administrator.”This management continues to prioritize Superfund cleanses that the fitness of our communities and the environment.We enter the network as partners, to help ensure the fitness and well-being of each resident.
In 2004, vinyl chloride was detected in a municipal well in Edina, which led the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to investigate environmental studies that revealed a giant column of chlorinated volatile biological compounds (COVs) containing trichloroethene (TCE), tetrachloroethene, and vinyl chloride..
The groundwater column extends from St.Louis Park to Edina and is close to Cien Highway and County Road 3.Neither the source nor extent of the column has been identified.Although 2V contamination has been discovered in municipal wells in Edina and St.Louis Park, all drinking water is treated before distribution.

The NPL includes maximum emissions of severe pollution out of control or abandoned in the country.The list serves as the basis for prioritizing EPA Superfund cleanup investment and compliance actions.Only downloads to NPL sites are eligible for federal investment for long-term permanent cleaning.

Renovated Superfund sites can generate truly extensive economic activity.Thanks to Superfund cleanses, in the past, broken houses are now used for a variety of purposes, adding shops, offices, public parks, residences, warehouses and solar power generation.for productive use, 9,180 businesses operate with 208,400 workers earning more than $14.4 billion in annual revenue.
Community members are key partners at Superfund s, and their early involvement leads to more important cleanup decisions, adding those related to long-term use.
Today’s movements are partly the result of the EPA’s implementation of the Superfund Working Group’s recommendations.The EPA has accelerated progress at sites with long-standing barriers; has taken swift steps to address immediate risks; Increased the number of sites that can be returned to communities for reuse; and incentivized paints through potentially guilty parts. Since the final touch of Superfund’s executing organization a year ago, recommendations have been incorporated into the Superfund program and on all NPL sites.across the country.
