Polis calls for a larger scale of coronavirus tests in southern Colorado

Gov. Jared Polis traveled to Colorado Springs and Pueblo on Tuesday to register with sites and organizations that earned aid funds for the coronavirus.

The governor videotaped the Citadel Mall check in Colorado Springs with recipients of the COVID-19 help fund, the YWCA and the East Side Child Care Center in Pueblo.

It also presented an update on Colorado’s reaction to the existing pandemic at Pueblo Community College.

Polis congratulated the region’s major control sites, whether in the Pueblo County Exhibition Park and the Citadel Shopping Center, and spoke about awareness of the ease of sites as one of the reasons for their excursion to southern Colorado.

The statewide seven-day coronavirus positivity rate is less than 3%, while positivity rates for El Paso and Pueblo counties are higher.

Polis encouraged citizens to take the test to develop KNOWLEDGE of COVID-19 in the area.

“The more we can do our tests, the more we can involve this virus, our economy, grow our economy and stay open,” Polis said.”As we recover, we need to make sure it’s a statewide effort.”

He also pointed to the building opening hours at the Colorado State Fairground control site, now open five days a week and alternatively on Saturdays in Pueblo.
