On Monday, President Trump refused to denounce alleged vigilante shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who was arrested and charged with killing two other people in the Wisconsin protests.Instead, the president said at a news convention Monday that Rittenhouse “probably would have been killed “if he hadn’t fired his gun.
Rittenhouse is awaiting murder charges. According to Snopes, he had a social media account that contained the “Trump 2020.”
“We’re looking for all this,” Trump said, when a reporter asked him if he would condemn the violence allegedly caused through Rittenhouse.”It’s an attractive situation. You saw the same tape I saw.away from them, I suppose, it seems. And he fell and then they attacked him very violently. And everything we’re looking for right now, and it’s under investigation, however, I think it had some very big problems.probably would have been killed. He’s under investigation.”
The president said he liked the police to deal with conditions rather than random individuals, but defended the police, whom he said to “suffocate” in difficult circumstances.
“I would like law enforcement to take care of everything.I think we have to take care of everything, law enforcement. But again, we have to give back our cops, our cops, their dignity, their respect,” Trump said..” They’re very talented people, they’re strong, they’re tough, they can do the job, but we’ve taken it away from them. You don’t have to, when someone makes a mistake, they drown.Or in some cases where you have bad cops, we have to deal with them.In other cases, they drown. They’re underneath, it’s a quarter of a moment.A quarter of a moment to make a decision.”
Trump is visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, Tuesday after Jacob Blake’s death and the protests and violence that followed.
The president’s brief press conference, which ended after questions about Rittenhouse, came shortly after Democratic nominee Joe Biden delivered a speech condemning violence in U.S. cities and accusing Trump of stoking the flames.
“The fires are burning and we have a president who is fanning the flames, who are fighting the flames,” Biden said in his speech in Pittsburgh.”But we shall not burn. We have to build. This president has long since lost all ethical leadership in this country. She can’t avoid violence because for years she fostered it.”
Trump claimed Biden blamed the police for protesters for the state of American cities.
“I just looked at what Biden had to say. To me, he blames the police more than the troublemakers, anarchists, agitators and looters, who may never blame or lose the radical left that Bernie supports.”the president tweeted.
