Framingham 27 new cases of coronavirus, 1 death

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Framingham added 27 new coronavirus cases over the weekend, one of the largest weekends in recent months.

The 27 new instances, and a new death, brought the total number of active instances in the city to 104.Framingham reported more than 20 new instances in the last few days of reports last Monday, Wednesday and Friday.This brings the building to a week, from August 22nd to August 88th.

Framingham began releasing coronavirus cases 3 times a week in mid-June after several months of daily reports.Since that June change, the 27th reported the highest of all reports on Monday.

Last week, the State Department of Health named Framingham one of the few “high-risk” communities in Massachusetts for coronavirus.The daily rate of new cases of 8.7 per 100,000 citizens as of August 26, higher than that of other “high” “risk communities” such as Brockton and Sutton.

Other communities, such as Revere and Chelsea, had new case rates of more than 20 consistent with 100,000 people.

Framingham has hosted several loose test sites recently.The number of tests conducted in the city rose to a maximum pandemic level last week, but positive tests were also increasing.Framingham began providing a new coronavirus testing site under the state-owned Stop the Spread program on Monday.
