While Michigan’s head coach, Juwan Howard, has vehemently denied any involvement in NBA head coach rumors, that hasn’t prevented a point-of-sale from predicting that he may be one of the next NCAA coaches to move to the pro point in time.
According to a list created through CBS Sports, Howard’s name, along with Bill Self of Kansas, among others, were on the list of potential coaches who could take the next step toward the NBA.
Just this week, Michigan coach Juwan Howard’s call was discussed as a possible NBA coach candidate. And although he temporarily rejected any speculation, saying that he “does not explore, seek or listen” to those potential opportunities, which they say he would.you probably won’t do it in time?
The fact is, Howard’s call will continue to appear when the NBA training concerts open.He even said it in his previous week when he declared that he would stay.He has fun NBA workouts and cut his teeth to that level.Even before accepting the position in Michigan, he ran for vacant head coach positions for the Cavs and Lakers.
The big stumbling spot about his NBA clients before now is the lack of fun he had as a head coach. Now that he has that in Michigan, combined with his six years at the bank as Erik Spoelstra’s assistant, NBA offices will most likely continue to see him as an intriguing educational candidate who might be in a position to make the leap at the right opportunity.- Kyle Boone
Of course, after reports first emerged about Howard’s call in NBA circles as an intriguing call for a possible NBA head coach position, Howard issued a denial of all rumors and fully signaled his goal of remaining in Ann Arbor for the immediate future..
“There’s a report of my call as a possible candidate for NBA training opportunities,” Howard said in a statement.”Although I am flattered and I know that this will happen more than likely, I do not explore, seek or listen.”I’m the head coach at the University of Michigan.I have a chance to paint in the biggest university in the world.I have the opportunity to advise an organization of glorious youth. We have goals, dreams and championships to win!”
Howard has extensive NBA experience with a 20-year career as a player and a 6-year assistant coach with the Miami Heat.Prior to being head coach of the Wolverines, Howard allegedly filled several NBA head training vacancies, adding the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, it turns out that his early long-term career will remain in Ann Arbor.
