Texas Parks and Wildlife officials announced Sunday that Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site will be closed until Aug. 13 after a park employee tested positive to COVID-19.
The park will not settle for day or overnight reservations at the park, authorities said on social media.
“When the park is notified of a suspicious or proven case, a protocol is established that includes park cleanup and a two-week quarantine period,” Texas Park and Wildlife officials said.

El Paso’s avid hikers have taken social media to close, as Hueco Tanks is an open park and the spread of COVID-19 is minimal. Others appreciated the precautions taken for the staff.
Visitors who have planned the park and have made a reservation will be informed of refunds and moving options.
Franklin Mountains State Park remains open and the government is encouraging online reservations to any other park or verifying the closure on its website.
