4 Arkansas Public School Teachers Named State Teacher Semifinals of the Year

On Friday, the governor and education secretary named four as semi-finalists for the State Teacher of the Year.

Are:

Tia Brickey, Library Media Specialist, Park Avenue Elementary School, Stuttgart School District, Arkansas River Educational Services Cooperative.

Amber Harbin, Science K-8, STEM and Project Lead the Way, Forest Heights STEM Academy, Little Rock School District, Pulaski County.

Each of the four semi-finalists won a certificate, a medallion and a $1,000 prize in a rite at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock, where they were revered by Governor Asa Hutchinson and Education Secretary Johnny Key. The 12 regional semi-finalists were also identified at the event. The Walton Family Foundation, a former advocate of the instructor of the year, funded the awards.

The State Teacher of the Year variety committee will conduct on-site visits, which will come with observations and interviews, with Arkansas Professor of the Year 2021, who will be named in the fall.
