BELMONT – The T.C. The Steele State Historic Site has a new manager.
The Indiana State Museum and historical sites have selected Jessica Stephens to play this role. Stephens is recently guilty of youth systems at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis. Paintings on the history of the state will begin on July 28.
As the site administrator, Stephens will oversee the day-to-day operations, programming and interpretation of brown County’s home and the workshop of the painter Hoosier T.C. Steele, according to a press release.
Stephens has experience. He holds a master’s degree in art education with an elementary degree in museum education and a bachelor’s degree in art history and history from Indiana University in Bloomington.
In addition to developing and facilitating programming for homeschool, Scout and after school audiences as youth programs manager, Stephens previously served as the manager of school engagement and the education representative for the “Lois Main Templeton: A Reinvented Life” experience at the Indiana State Museum.
Previously, she was assistant curator of educational programs and director of educational programs at the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, Georgia. He also interned with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy and the Lawrence County History Museum in Bedford. He finished a scholarship with WonderLab: the Museum of Science, Health and Technology in Bloomington. He has also worked with the Glenn A. Black Archaeology Laboratory, the Eskenazi Museum of Art and the Mathers Museum of World Cultures in Bloomington.
