As Bill Maher pointed out, the letter has been complained about from the left.
“What moves me is that rejection comes from liberals and almost everyone who presents this letter, Array … they’re liberal!” Maher exclaimed. “Bari, the fact that you … they call you centrist or right extreme! I mean, if a millennial, modern Jewish bisexual woman living in San Francisco is liberal … who is that?”
Weiss called the open letter a “precautionary cry from within the institutions” and related the culture of annulment to “social murder.”

“What we seek to say with the letter, and what Thomas did in forming it, to say that what is happening now with this developing culture of iliberalism is another complaint,” Weiss said. “Thomas and I, you, Bill, we’re used to complaining. The review is kosher in the paintings we make. The review is excellent. It’s not a complaint that overturns culture. This is punishment. It’s about making a user radioactive. It’s a matter of taking their paintings off.”
“Cancel the Array culture … it’s a matter of punishment. It’s about doing a radioactive. It’s about taking his job away.”
“It’s not just about punishing the sinner, it’s not just about punishing the user for being insufficiently pure. This is this kind of secondary boycott to other people who would deign to communicate with that user or they would seem to be on a platform with that.” User. And we only see very clearly where this kind of policy takes us. If verbal exchange with others we disagree with becomes impossible, how can we have conflicts? Array… It’s violence.”

Weiss went on to claim that politics had become a “religious identity” for many Americans, pointing to the “cult” of which President Trump and how he let “be more than” Defuse the police”… something of a heretic.”

“This is a huge challenge because it means the cave of the moderates. It meant the cave in the middle and the retribyalization of this country and the whole agreement with this country, the explanation of why it is exceptional with all its flaws is that we started from history,” Weiss told Maher. “We say that clanism, tribalism, that we can triumph over this, that there is something greater than the lineage, the kinship or the political tribe to which we belong. And I think what we’re seeing now, and this is a very scary moment, is kind of back to the sense of history. And I think it’s up to us to protect the concepts that have made this country exclusive and separate from history.”
Chatterton says “cancellation” is not about “bringing elites back to earth,” but what he describes as a “spectator effect” that stifling open discussion.
He then plundered the so-called anti-racism books of Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X Kendi, which he said would widen the racial divide.

“We threaten to reinvest in the concept that the race is genuine and that it cannot be escaped, which is a basic category that defines us, that whites are necessarily other blacks,” Chatterton said. “And we are in danger of making other people live today. We are creating a world where all who live today are a representative of the thoughts, misdeeds and cases of their ancestors. And it’s not a world I need to create.”
Weiss later praised Trader Joe’s, who recently responded to a request calling for the offensive call to be replaced by categorically rejecting the demands, calling the company’s reaction a “brave profile.”
“You’re right. That’s what we want most,” Maher nodded. “Being able to speak freely is the cornerstone not only of democracy, but of our way of life.”
