As lockdown restrictions begin to subside, British tourists may have already begun to make plans for their next holiday, and Greece has been a popular destination for British tourists.
That’s all you want to know about Greece tourists in the country coming out of their coronavirus blockade.
Are British citizens allowed to Greece?
The Department of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (FCO) lifted its general caution as opposed to all non-essentials to 67 destinations: Greece was one of the destinations.
This means that British lers can reach Greece without invalidating their insurance.
Since Wednesday 15 July, British tourists have been welcomed into the country.
He originally planned for such air links to be restored on 1 July, but Greek Prime Minister Kryiakos Mitsotakis revealed that flights from the UK will not be allowed until 15 July.
Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas said: “In cooperation with the UK government and on the recommendation of experts, the government is pronouncing the resumption of direct flights from the UK to all airports in the country from 15 July.”
Only direct flights from the UK can enter Greece, but also flights from Sweden.
The Skyscanner online page shows many flights from UK airports to Greece.
What new measures will be in place for visitors?
All travelers must complete a Passenger Location Form (PLF) at least 48 hours prior to the country.
The PLF form asks detailed questions, such as how you (by plane, ferry, train) and the main points about your shipment (flight number, seat number, date of entry), the duration of your remains in other countries and your ability to cope with staying in while you are in Greece.
Once you have finished the online form, you will receive an email confirming that you have completed the form and, in the email, a QR code.
When you get the QR code, you want it to be published or displayed on your cell phone. You’ll have to show it to the Greek government when you get there. Some airlines would also ask to see it before it even allows you to board.
Upon arrival in the country, travelers will likely be referred to a detection domain where they will be checked for coronavirus through a trained training team. They will then be asked to self-isolate at the time of delivery in their PLF form until verification effects are available.
All passengers travelling to Greece must comply with all current hygiene protocols, such as mask use and social distance.
After the closure, tourism in Greece will never be as before: in hotels, restaurants, cinemas, flights and more will have to operate with a reduced capacity to allow social estrangement.
For passengers and aircraft crews, masking is mandatory. This is the case for public transport. Tourists should wear a mask in public places. Travellers arriving by air will be subjected to one-off testing through the fitness authorities.
Some sightseeing activities are still allowed, such as giant organizational trips with a consultant or cruise vacation.
Restaurants, cafes and bars will be open, but, according to government guidelines, the tables will only be outdoor and semi-outdoor places, with a distance between them.
The beaches, parks and gardens have been open since 18 May, with swimming at sea allowed and individual sports in open spaces, however, strict rules of social distance must be followed.
Will I have to quarantine when I get back from Greece?
It was announced that others living in Scotland will be able to travel to 39 countries from 10 July without wanting to quarantine for 14 days on their return.
Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon said countries that had been classified as through the UK government would be on the Scottish air transport list.
Greece, along with other destinations such as Belgium and France, are on the list of countries that would not require quarantine when returning home.
However, it is still conceivable that quarantine-related regulations after a country’s return will change.
First, Spain was added to the list of countries exempt from quarantine requirements, but due to a greater number of Covid-19 cases, those regulations have changed. From now on, travellers from Spain returning to Scotland must remain quarantined for 14 days.
Will Greece be closed again?
Greece would possibly have to reinstate some blocking measures, as there was an increase in coronavirus cases after the country began to welcome tourists again.
On July 10, the number of new instances peaked for the first time since April 21, with 60 new infections confirmed.
Greece restarted its tourism industry on July 1, and since then the country has noticed more than a hundred new positive cases in the last 10 days by foreign tourists.
Stelios Petsas said: “We knew from the beginning that when we opened the doors of the country to the world, we would have imported incidents.”
He added that the government is “determined to most of the frivolous.”
The Greek government has stated that it would possibly impose stricter restrictions on the public and travel because the government’s security recommendation is ignored.
While the government has not revealed what measures can be reinstated, this may come with tighter border controls, high-risk country restrictions, and more common bar and restaurant inspections.
Holidays in Greece have been banned, British tourists have cancelled their holidays due to concern about coronavirus.
