(BLOOMINGTON) – The City of Bloomington invites residents to participate in and learn more about the master planning process for the redevelopment of the current IU Health Bloomington Hospital at the second virtual town hall public forum on Thursday, August 6, at 6 p.m.
Participants can log in from a PC or cellular device by logging in in advance for this link.
After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with details about meeting attendance. The city corridor will also be streamed live on the City’s Facebook page and on CATS.
This is the time for 4 public assemblies scheduled for citizens to interact on the site making plans for this year. The august 6 occasion will come with a presentation of the site’s initial design features and economic research data and will come with virtual subcommittee rooms where participants will participate in the organization’s discussions. The next assembly will take place in October, when the representative of the general plans is required to make the plans subtle. Community members can visit the project’s online page at www.bloomingtonhospitalsite.com for more data, updates, and contribution opportunities.
The City purchased the 24-acre site at Second and Rogers from IU Health in 2018 to pursue redevelopment features to achieve network goals for affordable housing, sustainable development, equity and inclusion. In early 2020, the City, through its redevelopment commission, hired the architectural and urban plans company Skidmore, Owings-Merrill (SOM) to oversee the procedure of developing a master plan for the site, adding a broad participation of the network and site design features. The senior planning team is working with the Hospital Reuse Committee, an organization of more than 30 network members who have cared about the City in this task since 2015. The first public forum on 16 June brought together more than two hundred participants.
IU Health Bloomington Hospital, an anchor in downtown Bloomington for more than a century, will leave the assets when the new IU Health Regional University Health Center opens in the east aspect of the city in 2021.
