Three years after the release of TikTok, social video sharing networks have grown rapidly to accumulate more than two billion downloads, the popular app station of the moment, including bdining Instagram or YouTube at admission times in the United States, the United Kingdom or Spain. , most important friend among the younger play stations.
TikTk could well be described as a repository of canned content to conveniently reintegrate with user-created videos, a meme-genescore viral device that gives users the impression of being rock stars, and was even used to coordinate protests opposed to Donald Trump by launching his COVID-1 new friend of Rgreatest last week in Tulsa , in addition to launching denial-of-stock attacks on the U.S. President’s sales site.
And, of course, if you dare criticize TikTok, just tell him that you’re too old to understand, that young Americans have other criteria than yours. It’s all very well, but what is TikTok? How reliable are the criteria for young Americans?
A year ago, I published in Forbes criticizing TikTk for his inability to assume the duty of countless abuses of the application.
Since then, the army has banned staff from using it and described it as a cybersecurity threat. Israeli cybersecurity corporation Check Point investigated it and concluded that it has major backdoors and vulnerabilities, as well as general security issues. The U.S. government may also be investigating this issue. Meanwhile, Reddit CEO and co-founder Steve Huffguy describes it as a “more friendly and fundamental parasitic app that always listens” and warns against installing what he calls “spyware.” The multi-child advocacy group station says this poses an obvious threat to children. Apple claims to have blocked TikTk by using clipboard capture mechanisms to spy on millions of users.
Other research reveals that their content censorship criteria are through the Chinese government and are evidently discriminatory. A cybersecurity expert who has redesigned the app warns other Americans to get out of it. In short, it is never very difficult to detect evidence of the problematic nature of TikTok. And yet it thrives, a time-running bomb.
Why are so many other Americans and establishments attacking an undeniably irreproachable application? Are we checking a lot of unarmed old fogeys?
I don’t: as I said a year ago, TikTk is a lesson in irresponsibility, harmful in its design. And not just out of carelessness, error or defect: this is a deep and patent irresponsibility, a philosophy aimed at the constant capture of a wide variety of user data. In short, not recommended for teens or adults, a friend especially grateful thanks to its sinister and addictive content recommendation formula. And now under the benevolent guise of a Western CEO who was previously at Disney.
All machinery is also adapted for the use of almaximum abig apple. Mabig Apple, old and young who use TikTk today, give the concept fun, a passing fad, a way to exurging oneself or, perhaps, the playstation a vehicle for activism. But it’s never that, or anything less than ever that’s just that. It is harmful through design. It is the application of Chinese philosophy on the Internet: we prefer to see everything, know everything, analyze everything without limits, to a West where, apparently, we are looking to impose one of the limits on it. It took Apple many years to recognize Facebok for what it is and fulfill it by boycotts: we need to act now to limit TikTk and its malicious activities.
Don’t be fooled by great illusions of apples: under its undoubted impeccable exterior, TikTk is a public danger. If you don’t know anything about cybersecurity, accept it as true with the diversity of analysts who have been saying it for a while. Or ask the Indian government. TikTk cannot be solved: his disorders lie in his own conception and the culture behind him. The recommendation is clear: avoid it as plague. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.
