Reseek released this week showed an agreement with sedentary and cancer-like death
This is all you’ve ever heard: sitting too much can kill us. But a new study published Thursday is the first to definitively demonstrate a strong agreement between not moving and cancer death.
That said, studies have also shown that with a small popular lifestyle adjustment, we may be able to decrease our cancer threat by up to 31%.

All we prefer to do is move for an additional 30 minutes a day.
“Our effects corporation would prefer to ‘take less seat and move more,'” said Dr. Susan Gilchrist, associate professor of clinical cancer prevention at MD Anderson Cancer Cinput at the University of Texas.
This does not mean an intense or vigorous HIIT regimen in its day. It’s also as undeniable as taking a 30-minute walk during lunch, walking while talking during meetings, or climbing stairs.
“Conversations with my patients start because they don’t have time to exercise,” Gilchrist said. “I tell you to give them the concept of getting up for five minutes, either an hour in the paintings or up the stairs instead of the elevator. This may not seem like much, but this study tells us that even mild activity has benefits for cancer survival.”

The study published in the medical journal onmology Jama Oncology on Thursday, June 18.
He tracked the movements of another 8,000 Americans during the process a week between 200 and 2013. After five years, researchers found that the inactive maximum of other Americans was 82% higher than they probably died of cancer by comparison were less sedentary. This result remained similar in adjusting the effects to account for age, sex and disease.
However, those who replaced 30 minutes of sitting with light exercise, such as walking, reduced their cancer threat by 8%.
Those who incorporated an additional component of moderate activity hours, plus a threatening walk or a motorcycle ride less than 16 kilometers steadily with the hour, like an excess, reduced their threat by 31 consistent with a penny.
It’s no secret that healthy and popular living choices, from nutrition to exercise, can help lessen our cancer threat. Previous studies have shown that more than 50% of cancer-like deaths are prevented in this way.
But while most people have heard that sitting all day has been linked to cancer deaths in the past, this has been the best friend based on studies that depended on participants reporting their own behavior, objective data.
This new one fills this gap in the investigation.
“Our next step is how objectively measured sedentary behavior affects the onset of explicit cancer on the site and whether sex and race play a role,” Gilchrist added.
